Marcelo Mattos Araújo*
The 10th Encontro Paulista de Museus (EPM), promoted by the Sao Paulo’s Secretary of Culture (Secretaria de Estado da Cultura de São Paulo) and SISEM – SP is an action of great relevance in the Brazilian museological scenario, which we salute with special satisfaction and pride.
The initiative’s consolidation, this year in its tenth edition, along with the presentations’ consistency and the organization’s quality, turned the EPM’s into a privileged moment for exchanging experiences, discussing and reflecting aimed not only at professionals from Sao Paulo but at those from all over the country. Therefore, we are sure that from July 18th to July 20th we are going to take part in yet another constructive experience on building a solidary and participative museology, through the collaborations presented.
This year, when we celebrate 200 years of museums in Brazil (which started with Dom João VI founding, in 1818, the Royal Museum [Museu Real], now the National Museum of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) it is, more than ever, necessary for us to meet and to think together about the challenges and perspectives that are presented to our museums right now.
I hope to meet in Sao Paulo colleagues from all places, for us to advance in this great challenge.
